The real reason bloggers hate Mike Freer

http://www.notthebarnettimes.co.uk/2011/01/boris-slams-coleman-freer.html

Please have a look at the comments on this blog written by one of of Mikes biggest critics - David 'Don't Call Me Dave' Miller. I have added stars to spare the blushes of our more elderly friends. Mike is rather pleased that some of his former critics have realised that much of the criticism of Mike is unfair and rather unpleasant.

Let me quote former Conservative Councillor Daniel Hope.

Daniel Hope said...

"Mike had to put up with a vicious campaign by a team of malcontents and bloggers. The friends of Freer believe that much of this was homophobically motivated."

So for full accuracy shouldn't DCMD have really attributed to Mr Freer that Barnet bloggers -

Vicious gay-bashing w**k*rs ?

Quotation ends.

Thank you Daniel. We couldn't have put it better ourselves.

Please note we are not Mikes official blog, we are the blog for his numerous and growing band of friends and admirers.

Mrs T,

It would have been much nicer if you hadn't photoshopped my comment in a way that suggested you had fully quoted me.

I think Amanda needs to be reminded of further comments on what the Telegraph

Readers will note that you, on what the Telegraph continues to call Mr Freer's blog (maybe you should correct this long standing link you if you consider it is wrong), endorse the view that those who criticise Mr Freer must be - "Vicious gay-bashing w*nk*rs".

Mr Freer outrageously wrong and completely out of order in making assertions of this type and it lessens his standing. Accusing people of racism, sexism etc are well tried and tested smear tactics of the hard left in this country. This tactic is usually employed as shield by those who use it to deflect engaging on the weak facts in their arguments.

The primary criticism of Mr Freer has been the waste, secrecy and lack of open debate during his time at the Council. He clearly lacked the confidence to engage with local critics from his Ivory Tower just lobbing insults.

It is a real shame that you and your fellow Councillors in Barnet can't share the view of the Mayor of London and the Foreign Minister who have both this week celebrated online debate and freedom of the press as an essential part of democracy.

My view is clear attacking those (as opposed to debating the facts with them) who probe, poke and challenge authority by character assassination, smear and innuendo are not Conservative values but totalitarian ones.

Regards

Daniel Hope
